Western Wins Nail Biter At Pentagon

Sioux Falls, South Dakota — The Western Christian boys had another game go down to the wire Saturday afternoon as they came away with the 60-57 win over Dakota Valley at the Pentagon.

The Wolfpack and Panthers battled back and forth in the first half. After one, Dakota Valley had a 15-14 lead, and at the break, maintained that advantage 30-29. Western jumped in front after the third with a 44-43 lead. Western was down four late when they rattled off 7 straight points and came away with the win 60-57 after a last second three by Paul Bruns of the Panthers was blocked by Clay Van Tol.

Western had two players in double figures. Carter Broek has a team high nineteen points while Ty Van Essen added ten. The Panthers got a game high 21 from Bruns.

With the win, Western improves to 12-6 on the year.

Coach Keizer had this to say about the game, “A great high school basketball game!

Dakota Valley made an 8-0 run with a couple minutes left to go up 4:

It was a make or break moment when Dakota Valley made their run to go up for with a couple minutes left. I was happy how we responded, not just because we scored the ball, but more importantly we kept our composure.

I felt we grew up tonight, finding ways to make plays while playing our 3rd game in three days. Our legs weren’t fresh, but I felt our mental toughness was as good as it’s been all year, especially in the second half.

I’m very happy our guys could experience playing in the Pentagon. Sanford puts on an unbelievable event and we’re fortunate to be a part of it!”

Up next for the Wolfpack boys is a home contest against LeMars on Tuesday.
