Erin Wieringa, a senior at Unity Christian, has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender softball program.
Wieringa batted .415 last season with 27 hits, five doubles, 21 runs batted in and 5 runs scored. She was a first-team all-War Eagle Conference selection in 2018 and was a second-team pick in 2017. She also claimed honorable mention all-state honors in 2018.
“We are excited to welcome Erin to Defender Softball Team! Erin has shown continued growth in her skills through her high school career and we look forward to seeing her continue to grow in college! Erin will bring a solid work ethic and a great attitude to our team!” said Dordt softball coach Jeff Zomer.
Erin is the daughter of Harry and Andrea Wieringa of Sioux Center, Iowa. She plans to study Nursing at Dordt.
