Winterfeld Transfers To Dordt

Karsyn Winterfeld, a student at Northwestern College, has announced her intention to transfer to Dordt College and join the Defender volleyball program. Winterfeld will have three seasons of volleyball eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2018 volleyball season per Great Plains Athletic Conference transfer rules.

Winterfeld averaged 3.4 kills per set to help Western Christian (Iowa) to a 2016 Class 2A state title. The 5-9, outside hitter also got to 3.01 digs per contest and had a team high 101 ace serves. She was a first-team all-state selection at the conclusion of the season.

In 2017 Winterfeld was a defensive specialist and totaled 87 ace serves and 2.61 digs per set. She earned all-GPAC honorable mention honors at the conclusion of the season.

“Karsyn has had quite the volleyball career through club, high school and college as she has competed on the highest stages at each of those levels. We are thrilled that she is willing to make this transition into our program. We wanted her here straight out of high school and are grateful for this opportunity to have her join us this fall. Her strengths as an attacker and ball control athlete joined with her tremendous serve will help us in all aspects of our program. Karsyn has a soft heart to serve the Lord and a strong desire to bless others through her heart of service,” said Dordt College coach Chad Hanson.

Karsyn is the daughter of Dan and Sara Winterfeld of Sioux Center, Iowa. She plans to study Elementary Education at Dordt College.
