Combine Destroyed In Archer Area Fire

Archer, Iowa — A combine was destroyed in a fire on Monday, October 14, 2019.

According to Archer Fire Chief Don De Boer, about 6:00 p.m., the Archer Fire Department was called to the report of a combine fire about four miles west of Archer at 370th Street and Nest Avenue.

The chief says the fire department saw the combine basically fully engulfed in flame as they approached the scene. He says they used water to extinguish the fire, but the combine was a total loss. He says the fire burned a small amount of stubble as well.

De Boer says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

According to De Boer, the eight firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 45 minutes.
