Fire Destroys Semi-Tractor, Trailer Near Ireton

Ireton, Iowa– A semi-tractor/trailer and a skid loader were destroyed in a fire on Sunday, June 24, 2018, near Ireton.

According to Ireton Fire Chief Richard Steckelberg, about 10:25 p.m., the Ireton Fire Department was called to the report of a semi and trailer on fire with a skid loader inside at 2710 500th Street, three miles south of Ireton and three east.

The chief says the fire department saw the truck fully engulfed as they approached the scene. He says they used water to fight the fire.

Steckelberg says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined. He says it appeared to have started in the semi-tractor but they’re not sure at this time.

Chief Steckelberg reports that the semi-tractor and trailer were a total loss.

He says they used about 3,500 gallons of water to fight the fire, and the 15 firefighters who responded were on scene for about an hour and a half.
