The sixth annual Orange City Turkey Trot 5k run and walk will take place on Thanksgiving, Thursday,  November 28. The fun run and walk will begin at 7:45 a.m. at Trinity Church in Orange City with packet pick-up and race-day registration taking place from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. Pre-registration and packet pick-up is scheduled for Wednesday, November 27, from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m. at Trinity Church.

The Orange City Turkey Trot aims to connect the community during the Thanksgiving holiday. The trot offers a true 5K course that is timed, but the emphasis is on a fun experience for all ages that raises awareness and resources for local missions. All proceeds from the event are given back to the community, and each year, a local mission partner is selected.

The 2019 ministry partners are My Choice, a local Christian-based program for middle school youth, and Trinity Church Youth Missions.

The 5k course begins on 2nd Street near the corner with St. Paul Ave SE, near Trinity Church. The race finishes on St. Paul Ave near the Trinity Church sign. It is a gently rolling single loop course.

Registration is $32. Participants can register online at https://orangecityturkeytrot.com before 9:00 p.m. on November 26. Participants can also register the day of the race.

Registered participants will receive a T-shirt and post-race refreshments. Awards will be given to the top female and male finishers, as well as winners in each age group.

The Turkey Trot also provides an opportunity for the community to worship together. All are invited to a worship service on Wednesday evening put on by Trinity Church and Living Water Church. The service begins at 6:30 p.m.
