“Avant-Garden,” Art Exhibit at Northwestern College

Northwestern College will open its 2019–20 art exhibit season with a show by Meghan Flynn, an artist and art professor from Yakima, Washington. Entitled “Avant-Garden,” the exhibit will be on display in Northwestern’s Te Paske Gallery August 20th – September 20th. A public reception with the artist is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28th, at 7:00 pm.

Flynn uses a variety of media to portray human idiosyncrasies and interpersonal relationships—exploring concepts such as fragility, anxiety, identity, beauty, idealization, love, loss and depression. Her paintings and drawings employ color and expression to mirror a person’s inner turmoil, including her own.

Flynn previous taught at Washington State University, the University of Wisconsin–Marinette, and Iowa Western Community College. She currently teaches drawing and design at Yakima Valley College in Washington state.

Northwestern’s Te Paske Gallery is located in the Thea G. Korver Visual Arts Center, on Highway 10 at 214 8th Street SW in Orange City. Gallery hours are 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Sunday.
