Little Rock, Iowa — An arrest has been made in an accident that sent two Lyon County men to hospitals near Little Rock this week.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says on Tuesday at about 11:20 a.m., 65-year-old Peter Klein of Rock Rapids was eastbound on Highway 9 in a 1998 Chevrolet K1500 owned by Pete’s Drainage. They say 30-year-old Johnathon Peters of Little Rock was stopped at the stop sign on L26 facing northbound driving a 2003 Chrysler Town & Country.
According to the officer’s report, Peters allegedly failed to yield from the stop sign and pulled out in front of the Klein pickup. The Klein pickup struck the Peters van on the driver’s side causing disabling damage to both vehicles.
They tell us that EMTs transported both drivers to hospitals for medical attention. Little Rock Fire Chief Joe Schilling tells us one victim was freed from his vehicle with the Jaws of Life.
As a result of the investigation, arrest warrants were obtained for Peters on charges of OWI-1st Offense, a serious misdemeanor, and Failure to Obey Stop Sign, a simple misdemeanor. Peters was arrested on Thursday, January 28th on the warrants.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that the Little Rock Ambulance Squad, the Little Rock Fire Department, Lyon County Ambulance Squad, Trackside Towing, and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office assisted them with the response to the accident.
