Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man escaped injury when his car left the roadway and crashed into a ditch near Northwest Iowa Community College Wednesday afternoon.
Sioux County authorities say the mishap happened shortly before 3:00 Wednesday afternoon, when a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by 35-year old Clinton Kreykes of Sheldon was eastbound on Highway 18 near NCC. Deputies say Kreykes became distracted and entered the south ditch.
Damage to Kreykes’ Pontiac was estimated at $25-hundred. Deputies say he was ticketed for Failure to Maintain Control, and Failure to Have Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by a Sheldon Police Officer, and an O’Brien County Sheriiff’s Deputy.
