Hawarden Man Facing Felony Charge In Connection With Alleged Assault

Hawarden, Iowa — A Hawarden man has been arrested on felony assault charges after an alleged altercation in Hawarden.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Hawarden Police Department, 30-year-old Billy Phillips of Hawarden is accused of an assault causing injury. He was arrested this week.

The complaint states that on or about Saturday, April 15th, Phillips allegedly assaulted a victim with a weapon, causing serious injury to the victim.

Phillips was charged with willful injury causing serious injury, a class C felony. If convicted, Phillips could face up to ten years in prison.

No court dates have yet been set in the case.

At last report, Phillips remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
