Sioux Center, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — Drivers traveling through Sioux Center will continue to encounter a new traffic pattern along the Highway 75 reconstruction project this week.
A new construction closure is now in place on Highway 75 between 9th Street Northwest, near Central Veterinary Clinic, and 12th Street Northeast, just south of McDonald’s.
Crews will remove the existing roadway surface in that section before continuing underground utility work and preparing the area for paving as the multi-year reconstruction project advances north.
Through Traffic Restricted
Highway 75 remains open into Sioux Center from both the north and south, but motorists will not be able to travel through the active construction zone between 9th and 12th Streets.
Drivers needing to reach the open section of Highway 75 between 7th and 9th Streets Northwest should:
- Use 1st Avenue Northwest to access 9th Street Northwest from the west.
- Use 8th Street Northeast to reach the area from the east.
Truck traffic should continue following the designated detour using 20th Street North, 13th Avenue East, and 20th Street South.
City officials are asking motorists to continue using extra caution and allow additional travel time while construction is underway.
Public Construction Update Wednesday
Residents who would like to learn more about the project will have an opportunity on Wednesday.
The City of Sioux Center will host its monthly Highway 75 construction update meeting on Wednesday, July 8th, at 11 a.m. in the meeting room at the Sioux Center Public Library.
City staff and project engineers will provide an update on construction progress and answer questions from the public. The meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month throughout the construction season.
About the Project
The Highway 75 reconstruction spans approximately 2.5 miles through Sioux Center. The project includes replacing deteriorated pavement, rebuilding underground infrastructure, and creating a corridor designed to improve safety, traffic flow, and the appearance of the community.
The reconstruction is a partnership between the City of Sioux Center and the Iowa Department of Transportation. An additional Iowa DOT project north of 12th Street North is planned in the coming years.
