Hospers, Iowa — A Riverdale, Illinois man was taken to the hospital after an accident near Hospers on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 4:45 p.m., 59-year-old Darnel Toney of Riverdale, Illinois was driving a 2013 Freightliner straight truck southbound on Highway 60, about two and a half miles south of Hospers.
The report says that Toney lost control of the vehicle, which entered the west ditch and rolled onto its top, losing its load. The report mentions wet and icy conditions at the time of the accident.
The Hospers Ambulance took Toney to the Orange City Health System Hospital.
The Freightliner straight truck was totaled.
Toney was charged with failure to maintain control.
