The chief says the fire department saw fire coming from the attic as they approached the scene. He says they used an outside attack until the internal attack team could make entry to fight the fire.

Steckelberg says no injuries were reported.

He tells us the fire department was assisted by Hawarden Fire Department, and the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature.

Chief Steckelberg reports that there was extensive damage.

He says the 30 firefighters who responded were on the scene for two and a half hours.

The next night, Saturday, the Hospers Fire Department was called to the Northwest Iowa Dialysis Center for a fire alarm about 7 p.m.

Hospers Fire Captain Larry Gloden says they found a bad motor on a pump for the heating system had caused the smoke and an odor when the windings burned up. He says they shut down the system and ventilated the building. Damage was isolated to the pump, says Gloden. He says they were there for about a half hour.
