Man Who Led Cops On October Pursuit In Custody In Sioux County

Rock Valley, Iowa — A Sioux Falls man who is accused of leading officers from multiple law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase this past October, was arrested Wednesday on warrants stemming from that chase.

34-year-old Todd Gilger faces a combination of felony and misdemeanor charges following the October 23rd pursuit that, according to Rock Valley Police Chief Monte Warburton, began in the parking lot of the Rock Valley Police Department.

Court records indicate that after fleeing from the Rock Valley PD, Gilger allegedly led police, deputies, and troopers on a chase that led through Sioux and Lyon counties and crossing over into South Dakota, before finally being taken into custody in Brandon and was  taken to the Minnehaha County Jail in Sioux Falls.

According to online court records, a warrant for Gilger’s arrest on the Iowa charges was issued October 26th. Sioux County deputies took Gilger into custody on that warrant on Wednesday of this week (January 6th) and placed him in the Sioux County Jail.

According to online court records, Gilger is charged with felony eluding, assault of a peace officer with intent to injure, interference with official acts and possession of methamphetamine, 1st offense.

Gilger is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing on the charges on Tuesday, January 18th in Sioux County Magistrate Court in Orange City, according to online court records.

As of midmorning Thursday, he remained in the Sioux County Jail, with bail set at $13,000, according to Sioux County Jail records.
