UPDATE: Names have been released of those involved in this accident. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says Donald Farnsworth III, the 57-year-old driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. Glenna Farnsworth of Canton, who was the 59-year-old passenger, sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital.

Hudson, South Dakota — One person died and another was seriously injured in a recent accident west of Hudson.
The names of the two people involved have not yet been released. The State of South Dakota holds names of accident victims for four days.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, preliminary crash information indicates that a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was westbound on Highway 103 (294th Street) a mile west of Hudson, when the driver made a left turn onto Spur Avenue. The driver failed to negotiate the curve and the motorcycle left the roadway and went into the west ditch. Both occupants were thrown from the motorcycle.
The Highway Patrol says the 57-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The 59-year-old female passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital. Neither occupant was wearing a helmet.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
