UPDATE: One Dead In Accident South Of Le Mars

Le Mars , Iowa — Plymouth County authorities have released the names of those involved in a 2-vehicle fatal crash Tuesday morning south of Le Mars.

According to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened when a 2013 Chevy Equinox, driven by 26-year-old Evan Nettleton of Sioux City, was westbound on C70, about 10 miles south of Le Mars. A 2015 GMC K3500 pickup, driven by 42-year-old Timothy Wolfswinkel of Dallas Center, Iowa, was northbound on K49 when, according to authorities, he failed to see or stop for the stop sign at the intersection of C70, and struck Nettleton’s Equinox. Following the collision, both vehicles came to rest in the ditch.

Wolfswinkel and his two daughters, ages 4 and 5, were taken to a Sioux City hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Authorities say 26-year-old Evan Nettleton was killed in the crash.

They tell us alcohol was NOT a factor in the collision.

According to authorities, the crash remains under investigation by accident investigators from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, Le Mars Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.

Le Mars, Iowa — One person is dead following an accident south of Le Mars Tuesday morning

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office reports that just after 11:40 am on Tuesday, a 2013 Chevy Equinox was travelling westbound on C70, ten miles south of Le Mars. A 2015 GMC K3500 pickup was travelling northbound on K49. According to the report, for an unknown reason, the GMC failed to see and/or stop for the stop sign. The crash took place within the intersection, and both vehicles then left the roadway coming to rest in a field.

The driver of the Equinox pronounced dead, and the occupants of the GMC were taking to a Sioux City Hospital with minor injuries.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office states that the accident remains under investigation, and no names will be released pending family notification. They state that alcohol is not a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation by accident investigators from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, Le Mars Police Department, and the Iowa State Patrol.
