Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City woman was taken to the hospital after an accident in Orange City on Saturday, July 31, 2021.
The Orange City Police Department reports that about 9:50 a.m., 92-year-old Ila Mae Schiebout of Orange City was driving a 2021 Chevy SUV northbound on Concorde Avenue Northeast in Orange City. Eighty-year-old Wilmina De Jong of Orange City was westbound on First Street Northeast in a 2022 Chevy SUV.
The report says that Schiebout failed to yield to De Jong’s vehicle, which was on her right, and the vehicles collided in the intersection.
Schiebout was taken to Orange City Health System Hospital.
Schiebout’s Chevy SUV sustained $10,000 in damages, and De Jong’s Chevy SUV sustained $3,000 in damages.
No charges had been filed at the time of the report.
The Orange City Fire Department and Orange City Ambulance Squad assisted with the response to the accident.
