Rock Valley Man Jailed Following Search Warrant

Rock Valley, Iowa — A 21-year-old Rock Valley man has been arrested on felony charges in connection with the investigation into an alleged incident that took place this past weekend.

Court records say that Rock Valley Police received a text-a-tip late on Friday night, December 4th, reporting under-age drinking and drug use at a Rock Valley residence. When police arrived, they say they detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the residence. According to authorities, a warrant to search the premises was applied for and granted.

During the search multiple items of paraphernalia, along with one pound of marijuana, were reportedly located in the bedroom of 21-year-old Angel Rangel Palafox. Authorities report that a handgun and ammunition were also found in the bedroom. Authorities report finding twenty-two grams of liquid cannabis oil in the home’s living room. They also say they discovered a minor drinking at the residence.

Rangel Palafox was charged with Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp and a Controlled Substance Violation, both of which are Class D Felonies. In addition, he was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, which is a misdemeanor charge.

He was taken to the Sioux County Jail on the charges, where he remained as of mid-afternoon Friday (December 11th).
