Rock Valley Woman Killed In Early Sunday Crash

Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash near Rock Valley early Sunday (July 30th).

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, at 12:35 Sunday morning, a 2020 Audi A4, driven by 21-year-old Kaleb DeBey of Sioux City, was westbound on 300th Street, approaching Fillmore Avenue, when the car failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, going out of control and entering the west ditch. Deputies say the car then struck a cement culvert and became airborne. Authorities say a passenger in the car, 35-year-old Halee Bliek of Rock Valley, was ejected from the car and became trapped underneath it.

DeBey and Bliek were both transported by Rock Valley EMS to Hegg Medical Center. Authorities say DeBey was treated for his injuries, while Bliek was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.

Deputies say high speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash and the case remains under investigation.

Authorities say this case was a joint investigation between the Iowa State Patrol, Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, and Rock Valley Police Department, with assistance by the Rock Valley Fire Department and Rock Valley Ambulance.
