Sheldon Man Injured In Saturday Crash

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man was transported to the hospital after a two vehicle accident in Sheldon late Saturday morning.

According to Sheldon Police the mishap occurred shortly before 11:30 Saturday morning at the intersection of Park Street and 4th Avenue. Police say a 2001 Buick Regal, driven by 33-year-old John Kreykes of Sheldon was eastbound on Park Street, approaching 4th Avenue when a westbound 2004 Ford F-150 driven by 16-year-old Evain Thompson of Sibley made a left turn, colliding with Kreykes’ car.

According to authorities, Kreykes was transported by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Thompson was reportedly uninjured.

Damage to Kreykes’ Buick was estimated at five-thousand dollars with Thompson’s pickup receiving an estimated thirty-five-hundred dollars in damage.

Thompson was reportedly cited for Failure to Yield on a Left Turn.

Sheldon Police were assisted at the scene by the Sheldon Fire Department, Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, and Sheldon Emergency Management Agency.
