Sibley Woman, Blinded By Sun, Strikes Sheldon Utility Pole

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sibley woman was taken to the hospital following a single-vehicle crash in Sheldon Thursday.

According to an accident report from the Sheldon Police Department, shortly before 10:30 Thursday morning a southbound 2018 Jeep, driven by 21-year-old Jessica Corona, of Sibley, struck a utility pole on South 2nd Avenue, near Dairy Dandy, when she attempted to turn left from South 2nd Avenue into a private alley. Corona told police she was blinded by the sun, causing her to collide with a utility pole.

Cops say Corona was transported to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by SCAT for treatment of what the accident report describes as minor injuries

Police estimate damage to Corona’s Jeep at approximately $6,000.
