Sheldon, Iowa — A skid loader was destroyed in a fire on Monday, August 21, 2023, near Sheldon.
According to Sheldon Fire Chief Brad Hindt, at about 2:50 p.m., the Sheldon Fire Company was called to the report of a skid loader on fire at 4421 320th Street, two and a half miles west of Sheldon on Highway 18.
The chief says the fire department saw a Bobcat brand skid loader on fire as they approached the scene. He says the owner was using the skid loader at the time and heard a loud pop and saw the engine compartment on fire.
Hindt says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.
Chief Hindt reports that the skid loader was totaled in the blaze.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about an hour and 20 minutes.
