Spencer Woman Taken To Hospital After Tuesday Crash Near Hospers

Hospers, Iowa — A Spencer woman was taken to a hospital after a crash on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, near Hospers.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us that about 10:45 a.m., 87-year-old Mabel Rush of Spencer was driving a 2019 Chevy Equinox westbound on 400th Street. They say 49-year-old Timothy Paulsen of Sheldon was driving a 2008 Ford pickup northbound on Highway 60.

The report alleges Rush failed to yield to the Ford and the two vehicles collided at the intersection.

An ambulance took Rush to the Orange City hospital. Her injuries were suspected to be serious.

The Rush Chevy sustained about $15,000 in damage. The Paulsen pickup sustained about $10,000 in damage.

Rush was cited on a charge of Failure to Obey Stop Sign and Yield Right of Way.
