Three Injured In Crash Near Ireton

Ireton, Iowa — A two-vehicle collision north of Ireton sent three people to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that they were notified of the crash shortly before 4:45 Tuesday afternoon on Eagle Avenue, one mile north of Ireton. According to the report, 17-year old Chlarisa Mulder of Ireton was northbound in a 2004 Ford pickup when she lost control and entered the southbound lane, where she collided with a 2009 Toyota Matrix driven by 51-year old Amy Sharar of Ireton. Deputies say Mulder’s pickup came to rest in the east ditch, and Sharar’s car wound up in the west ditch.

Mulder, Sharar and an eight-year-old passenger were all transported by the Ireton Ambulance to the Orange City Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Officials estimate the damage to Mulder’s pickup at $5-thousand, with an estimated $8-thousand damage to Sharar’s Toyota.

Mulder was reportedly cited for Failure to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle.

Sioux County deputies were assisted at the scene by the Hawarden Police Department, Ireton Fire Department and Ireton Ambulance.
