Sanborn, Iowa – A traffic stop for defective equipment ended with a Milford man facing felony narcotics-related charges.
According to court documents, about 2:30 Saturday morning, an O’Brien County Deputy initiated a traffic stop for non-functioning taillights at the intersection of Sorrel Avenue and Highway 18, east of Sanborn. According to authorities, the car’s driver, 44-year-old Travis Douglas Miner, of Milford, was placed under arrest for Driving While License is Barred, as well as Driving With a License that is Suspended or Revoked.
According to the Criminal Complaint, upon arriving at the O’Brien County Jail, Correctional Officers searched Miner while he was being booked into jail, and allegedly recovered a small Ziploc bag in his shoe that they say contained a substance that reportedly field tested positive for methamphetamine. Miner was subsequently charged with 2nd Offense Possession of a Controlled Substance, which is an Aggravated Misdemeanor, as well as a felony charge of Introducing Contraband Into a Correctional Facility.
