Hospers, Iowa – A Round Lake, Minnesota trucker, along with his passenger, were injured Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash near Hospers.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, about 2:50 Saturday afternoon, 51-year-old Eugene Cleland of Round Lake, was southbound on Highway 60, about a mile south of Hospers, in a 2009 Peterbilt semi tractor and trailer, when he drove onto the shoulder, lost control, and rolled into the west ditch.
Deputies say Cleland and a passenger were transported to the Orange City Health System Hospital with what were described as “minor injuries”.
Damage to the Peterbilt was estimated at $175,000. Cleland was reportedly cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hospers Fire Department, Hospers Ambulance, Granville Fire Department, Orange City Police Department, and the Iowa State Patrol.
