Western South Dakota Man Faces Felony OWI Charge After Allegedly Driving High

Larchwood, Iowa — A western South Dakota man has been arrested on a warrant for a felony OWI charge after an incident near Larchwood in April.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 28-year-old Trev Jacobs of Lead, South Dakota is accused of operating while intoxicated. He was initially arrested on April 21st, 2023, and was arrested again on Thursday, July 27th.

In his statement, the deputy says Jacobs was thought to be under the influence of methamphetamine when he was stopped in the casino parking lot.

Jacobs was charged with third-or-subsequent-offense OWI. If convicted, Jacobs could face up to five years in prison. He was also charged with being a fugitive from justice.

He faces arraignment on the OWI charge on Monday, July 31st.

At last report, Jacobs remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
