Matlock Man Sentenced To Ten Years In Prison

Orange City, Iowa — A Matlock man recently convicted of sexual assault has been sentenced to ten years in prison.

Court records say Sioux County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 30-year-old Daren Thomas Leikvold of Matlock at his home on April 12, 2016. Court records say he was accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old on two separate occasions. The incidents are alleged to have occurred in October of last year, and in January of this year.

Judge Duane Hoffmeyer found Leikvold guilty on one count of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree. in a bench trial.

According to court records, on Monday, October 31st, 2016, Leikvold was sentenced to a 10-year prison term with credit for time served. A $1000 fine and surcharge was suspended. Hoffmeyer ruled that Leikvold must register as a sex offender, provide a DNA sample for profiling, and upon release from prison, he will be under supervised parole for the rest of his life.
