Sheldon, Iowa — A George woman was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash near Northwest Iowa Community College this (Monday) morning.
According to the Sheldon Police Department, the accident happened around 8:30 this morning when a 2013 Dodge minivan, driven by 31-year old Matthew Rusche of Sheldon was westbound on Highway 18. Rusche told officers he was waiting to make a left turn onto College Drive, and was nearly hit by another westbound vehicle, so he tried to make a quick left turn onto College Drive. Police say that when Rusche attempted his turn he turned into the path of an eastbound 1998 Nissan, driven by 28-year old Carina Aguilera of George.
Aguilera was transported to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team. Rusche was uninjured.
Damage to Aguilera’s Nissan was estimated at $2,000 with $1,000 damage estimated to Rusche’s minivan. Rusche was cited for Failure To Yield Upon a Left Turn.
Sheldon Police were assisted at the scene by the Sheldon Fire Department, Sheldon EMA, and Sheldon Community Ambulance Team.
