Authorities ID Man Who Shot Self After Robbery

ClaySheriff DinkyEverly, Iowa — Authorities have identified a man who they say shot himself after a robbery near Everly.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, March 11, 2016, they responded to a reported armed robbery at Barb’s Corner near Everly. Contact was made with a suspect vehicle approximately 15 minutes later in the 2200 mile of 160th Avenue, leading to contact with 40-year-old Joshua Emerson Mandelkow of Milford.

Mandelkow was transported to Lakes Regional Hospital in Spirit Lake for medical treatment before being transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. His current medical condition is not being disclosed, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

They say that at this time, no charges have been filed as the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Clay County Attorney’s Office continue the investigation.
