Barwick Named Iowa Middle Level Principal Of The Year

Cindy BarwickSheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon educator is being recognized by the School Administrators of Iowa, or SAI, as the 2017 Iowa Middle Level Principal of the Year.

Sheldon Middle School Principal Cindy Barwick was selected for the honor by a committee of Iowa middle level principals.  Barwick talked about the selection process for the award.

She says winning the Iowa Middle Level Principal of the Year Award is very humbling.

Barwick says people don’t enter the education profession for recognition, but she is honored to represent both ths SAI, and Sheldon.

Barwick has been Sheldon Middle School Principal since 2001, having previously taught at the elementary and middle level in Decorah. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Iowa State University, and also holds a specialist’s degree from the University of South Dakota.

Barwick will be recognized at an awards ceremony at the Iowa capitol in May.
