Blood Donors Needed In Sibley

Sibley, Iowa — It’s summer, and that means two things. There is more need for blood due to people being outside and more active. It also means that people tend to forget to give blood because they’re so busy.

So giving blood at blood drives this time of year is even more important. Ken Ver Steeg, executive director of the Community Blood Bank tells us about a blood drive this Thursday in Sibley.

He says it’s easy to donate, and he gives a few guidelines.

He says in the summer it’s always important to make sure you drink enough fluids, but especially if you’re going to give blood.

You can call the Osceola Community Hospital Laboratory to make an appointment at 712-754-2574 ext. 260. Blood drive organizers say that the Community Blood Bank is the sole supplier of blood and blood products for Osceola Community Hospital. They say no hospitals in our area get blood from the American Red Cross.
