Spirit Lake, Iowa — A robbery trial for a Sheldon man was supposed to have started this Tuesday in Spirit Lake. But it appears that the defendant will be taking a plea bargain instead, next month.
Court records indicate that Brandon Bebon of Sheldon, who was 19 at the time, and Samuel Stoller of Spirit Lake, who was 26 were arrested early on March 7th, 2018 and were charged with first degree burglary, first degree robbery, going armed with intent, possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance – marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and 4th degree theft.
The court records allege that Bebon entered a trailer house in Spirit Lake, armed with a .22 caliber handgun and demanded that the male occupant empty his pockets and give him everything he had. The documents filed by the Spirit Lake Police Department indicate that Bebon pointed the gun at both a male and a female occupant of the trailer. They also indicate that the Sig Sauer handgun that was in Bebon’s possession had been stolen from Stoller’s father.
Court records allege that Stoller drove the getaway car, giving Bebon a ride both to and from the scene of the crime.
Bebon’s trial, which was to have started this Tuesday, has been canceled. A plea hearing has been scheduled for Monday, April 22nd, 2019.
