Calumet Woman Sentenced To Probation In Theft From Employer

Calumet, Iowa — A Calumet woman who had been accused of misappropriating business funds from a business for which she was the Office Manager has been sentenced in O’Brien County District Court.

The charges against Jamie Riedemann were the result of an investigation into a theft complaint from Riedemann’s former employer, Calumet Carriers.

According to authorities, the charges against Riedemann included one count of 1st Degree Theft, a Class C Felony, three counts of 2nd Degree Theft, all of which are Class D Felonies, three counts of Theft by Credit Card, two of which are Class D Felonies and one of which is an Aggravated Misdemeanor.  There was also one count of Tampering With Records, which is an Aggravated Misdemeanor. Authorities say the thefts from Calumet Carriers totaled more than $40-thousand.

According to O’Brien County Attorney Micah Schreurs, Riedemann pled Guilty to two charges: 1st Degree Theft, a Class C Felony, and Credit Card Fraud, a Class D Felony. The other charges were dismissed as part of a plea arrangement.

In accordance with the plea agreement, Riedemann was sentenced to a total of 4-years probation. In addition, she was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $30-thousand. Schreurs says that, even though that amount is less than the total amount taken from Calumet Carriers, they agreed to the deal, and the $30-thousand restitution will be considered payment in full.
