Car Destroyed In Sioux Center Area Fire

Sioux Center, Iowa — A car was destroyed in a fire on Monday, June 19, 2017 near Sioux Center.

According to Sioux Center Fire Chief David Van Holland, about 6:35 PM, the Sioux Center Fire Department was called to the report of a car on fire at 380th Street and Hickory Avenue — or K52, about two miles west of the Pella Window factory in Sioux Center.

The chief says the fire department saw the car was fully engulfed, with the tires burning as they approached the scene. He says they quickly extinguished the fire.

Van Holland says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Van Holland reports that the older vehicle was totaled.

He says they used about 300 gallons of water to fight the fire, and crews were on scene for a half hour.
