Construction Delays Continue On Highway 18

Sheldon, Iowa — Before winter, there will be an improved Highway 18 between Sheldon and Sanborn. But right now it’s probably not your favorite route.

The work on Highway 18 started earlier this summer and has suffered some delay says Iowa Department of Transportation planner Dakin Schultz.

We have received some reports that it sometimes takes 25 to 30 minutes to get through the construction area. We asked Schultz if that was normal, and what motorists could expect.

Schultz says he’d encourage motorists to be prepared. He says it will take longer than a normal commute if you commute between Sanborn and Sheldon. Schultz says if there are alternate roads for your route, he’d encourage you to explore that option for now. Again the construction is expected to continue into October.
