Spencer, Iowa — If you’ll be traveling to the east on Highway 18 within the next couple of months you’ll need to be aware of a construction project that could cause you some travel issues.
A major renovation began Monday morning on the Highway 18 & 71 junction in north Spencer. This junction is sometimes referred to as the North Y. This renovation will entail a detour. Iowa State Patrol Trooper Vince Kurtz described the detour.
Trooper Kurtz says that the renovation project is scheduled to last into October.
He says that avoiding that location may be your best, and quickest, course of action.
Trooper Kurtz is the Iowa State Patrol Public Relations Officer for 11 counties in northwest Iowa.
