Dispatchers Thanked During Public Safety Telecommunicators’ Week

Northwest Iowa — This is National Public Safety Telecommunicators’ Week. What’s a Public Safety Telecommunicator? Around here, they normally go by the name “Sheriff’s Office Dispatcher,” and they are the link between the public and those who respond to emergencies and other public safety calls.

Sioux County Sheriff Jamie Van Voorst says their telecommunicators are often heard but seldom seen.

Van Voorst says he wants to send out a special thank-you to these individuals.

Other law enforcement agencies across northwest Iowa also send their thanks to their dispatchers as well.
