Extension Beef Specialist Receives Highest Extension Award

Orange City, Iowa — An extension beef specialist who we talk to fairly frequently here on KIWA has been honored with an award of distinction from her employer, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Beef Specialist Beth Ellen Doran was recently honored along with 11 other extension professionals for outstanding achievement and service to Iowans.

Extension officials tell us Doran was bestowed with the Award for Distinguished Service in Extension, the highest award bestowed on an extension professional in Iowa. The award recognizes sustained distinguished performance and educational contributions to Iowa State clientele through extension programs.

They say that Doran provides educational resources, hands-on learning opportunities and individual assistance to beef producers in Northwest Iowa, the most concentrated cattle-producing region in the state. Extension officials tell us that Doran’s clients and coworkers greatly respect her knowledge, professionalism, and compassion towards both humans and animals. In addition, Doran also serves the Iowa State University beef team with her expertise in feedlot nutrition and management, program planning and program evaluation.

If you’d like to contact Dr. Doran, she may be reached at the ISU Extension and Outreach Sioux County office at 400 Central Avenue Northwest in Orange City. She can be reached by phone at 712-737-4230 or by email at doranb@iastate.edu.
