See And Experience Alpacas At Pumpkinland Saturday

Orange City, Iowa — If you’ve always wanted to see an alpaca up close, you’ve got a chance to do just that near Orange City this Saturday.

This is the busy season at Pumpkinland, north of Orange City on K64. But owner Helen Huitink tells us they’ve got something extra on Saturday.

She says the alpaca fun doesn’t end there.

According to Huitink, the alpacas are from the Myron and Jackie Bechler farm near Sheldon. She says in past years they have celebrated National Alpaca Farm Days at their farm, but this year they moved it to Pumpkinland.

For those who are not familiar with Pumpkinland, Huitink gives us an idea of what they do. She says mainly, they sell pumpkins.

She says they also have a petting zoo, that has more than just alpacas. She says they have donkeys, ponies, goats, ducks, geese, peacocks, chickens, baby chicks, bunnies, and a turtle named Sammy.

Another big draw every year is their corn maze. This year, it’s special, says Huitink.

All that, plus National Alpaca Farm Days this Saturday at Pumpkinland, two-and-a-half miles north of Orange City on K64 or Jackson Avenue.
