Feenstra Elected As Next Congressman For Fourth District

Hull, Iowa — The next Congressman from the fourth district, which extends from the Minnesota border nearly to Council Bluffs and from the Big Sioux and Missouri Rivers all the way past Mason City — will come from our corner of northwest Iowa.

Republican State Senator Randy Feenstra of Hull defeated Democrat J. D. Scholten in Tuesday’s election to win the right to represent the fourth district in Congress.

Late Tuesday night, Feenstra thanked his family, his supporters, his staff, and everyone who helped him get to this point.

Feenstra says protecting the unborn is also a priority of his.

The Congressman-elect defeated Congressman Steve King in the June Primary for the right to face Scholten on Tuesday.

King has served the area since 2003, first as Iowa’s Fifth District Congressman. In 2013 Iowa lost a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives and our area became part of the Fourth District. King ran for the Fourth District seat and was able to continue his time in the U.S. House. He will finish up after 18 years in the House when Congressman-elect Feenstra takes office in January.
