Lester, Iowa — Fire crews from several towns were on scene at a fire on Saturday night on Main Street in Lester.
The Lester Fire Department was called out about 7:45 PM to the fire.
On-scene reports indicate the fire appeared to be at a business called “Cob’s Custom Farming,” at 204 Main Street. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that the official name of the business is Kellenberger Custom Farming. The business has a large bi-fold aircraft-style door on the front. This door was partially-open and several burned items could be seen at about 9 PM.
Fire crews from Lester, Larchwood, Inwood, and Alvord, Iowa; and Hills, Minnesota responded to the blaze. Also, the Luverne, Minnesota Fire Department had come down with their aerial truck to help fight the fire. The Lester and Larchwood Rescue squads were on scene as well as the Lyon County Ambulance. Deputies from both Lyon County, Iowa and Rock County, Minnesota were also seen on the scene.
The building and its farm machinery contents were a total loss. Further details of the blaze, including the cause are not available.
One Lester resident says the building used to be the dance hall and roller rink.
