Sheldon, Iowa– We now have the details on a fire in which a garage was destroyed on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in Sheldon.
According to Sheldon Fire Chief Jerry Meyer, about 11:20 PM, the Sheldon Fire Company was called to the report of garage on fire in the alley of 1005 Fourth Street.
The chief says the fire department saw fire and smoke coming out of a window of the garage as they approached the scene. He says firefighters made entry into the garage and began to extinguish it.
After the fire was out overhaul was performed to put out any hot spots.
Meyer says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature in the area of a power strip.
Chief Meyer says the garage was not attached to the home and is a probably a total loss.
He says crews were on scene for an hour and a half and were assisted by the Sheldon Police Department and the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team.
