Former Spencer Pastor Files Change Of Venue Motion

gavel_sxc_3Spencer, Iowa — A former Spencer pastor charged with Sexual Exploitation By A Counselor has filed a motion for a change of venue.

Online court records indicate that Kevin Grimes filed the motion for a change of venue Tuesday, January 24th.  The previous day, Grimes filed a motion for a continuance, or postponement, of his Pretrial Conference, which had been scheduled for Monday in Clay County District Court.

If granted, the change of venue motion would move Grimes’ trial to a different county.  Change of venue motions are most often sought when the defendant fears they won’t be able to get a fair trial in the county in which the charges were filed.

Clay County authorities accuse Grimes of allegedly having text conversations of a sexual nature and also sharing nude photographs of himself with people he was counseling. Investigators say they also learned that Mr. Grimes had also had a sexual relationship with people he counseled.
