Foster Care Awareness Month: Foster Families Always Needed

Northwest Iowa — May is Foster Care Awareness Month.

Lutheran Services in Iowa or LSI is the organization that helps with foster services in our part of Iowa. Their Preservice Training Coordinator Danette Morgan tells us why Foster Care Awareness Month is important.

She says they are, of course, working to retain the foster parents they have, but life continues and for various reasons people stop being foster parents, so more are always needed.

Morgan explains LSI’s role in the foster system.

If you are interested in being a foster parent, there is some training you have to take. You can start the process at lsiowa.org. She says LSI also helps support the foster families, and that reuniting the biological family is always the goal.
