Sheldon, Iowa — Wednesday is a big day in Sheldon, as local merchants hold an annual event that draws shoppers from miles around. In a normal year it’s called Krazee Daze, but Sheldon Chamber Executive Shantel Oostra says this yesr it’s something a little different.
(As above) “We’ll be having what’s called our ‘Sweet Summer Deals’ event. That will be held downtown, and we’ll have extended retail hours of 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.”
Oostra says you can come and spend the day, with both breakfast and lunch available right downtown.
(As above) “Truly Scrumptious and Downtown Grounds will both be offering breakfast and lunch, and they both will have outdoor seating. It’s supposed to be a really nice day, make sure you enjoy sitting outside sitting outside and having a great breakfast or lunch.”
She says there are other things going on, as well.
(As above) “We will have the library downtown from 10 am until 2 pm, and they’ll be doing a book giveaway for the kids, so you’ll want to make sure you stop by their table. We have a trailer that will be on the corner of 9th Street and 4th Avenue, and we’ll be collecting items for Love INC here in town. They have some food items that they’re looking for, and we do have a listing of those items on our Facebook page.”
Oostra says the downtown merchants will be offering great deals, and a little more.
(As above) “A lot of the stores will be offering great deals and also extra little sweet treats, so you’ll want to pop in and see what they have to offer.”
Normally, a large area of downtown Sheldon would be closed off to vehicle traffic to accommodate merchants and shoppers, but Oostra says this year there will be just one street closed.
(As above) “We will only be blocking off 9th Street from 3rd Avenue to 4th Avenue. Now that doesn’t mean that the stores in the other area aren’t taking part, they’ll be offering special deals, as well, so you’ll want to make sure that you stop in and visit them. But any extra pop-up vendors that we have coming, most of them will be located on 9th Street.”
She says there will even be a wine tasting event from 2:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday near Sweet Puddle Jumpers downtown, with KIWA providing music from 5:00 to 7:00.
Oostra says you’re reminded to practice social distancing, and masks are encouraged. In addition, she says all of the downtown merchants will have hand sanitizer available for your use.
Sweet Summer Deals from from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm this Wednesday.
