Governor Visits Northwest Iowa To Kick Off Area Attraction Plan

Spencer, Iowa — Governor Kim Reynolds was in northwest Iowa on Wednesday to help kick off a plan to encourage and develop natural resources and attractions in the area.

Ted Kourousis is the Executive Director of the Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission. He tells us about the “Glacial Lakes and Prairie Escapes” region project.

Kourousis tells us about the governor’s visit.

He says the effort is focused on both awareness and improvement of existing facilities.

He says a couple of the ideas are improvements to campgrounds in Emmetsburg, a new marina area in Storm Lake, trail expansion in the Iowa Great Lakes, and a trail connecting the Iowa Great Lakes and Spencer. He says for more information, and to customize your “escape,” you can visit lakesandprairie.com.
