Sheldon, Iowa — A well-attended Retirement Open House was held Tuesday afternoon in the lower level of the Sheldon Community Services Center for veteran Sheldon Police Officer Brian Wielenga.
Wielenga will be retiring Sunday, after nearly 30 years protecting and serving the people of Sheldon. He has also been a volunteer member of the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team for the past several years, and says he plans to remain on SCAT after his retirement from the P.D.
During Tuesday’s Retirement Open House, Wielenga was presented with a plaque honoring his decades of service the the Sheldon Police Department. He also received a “Happy Retirement”, which was spelled out in donuts, an appropriate gift for a retiring cop.
