Heitkamp: Warmer, Drier Weather On The Way As We Dig Out From Blizzard

Northwest Iowa — As the dig-out from Monday’s blizzard continues, we see that the storm dropped widely varying amounts of the white stuff as it passed through the area.

Snowfall amounts ranged from 4 to 5-inches at Rock Rapids to 14-inches in Sibley. In Sheldon, George, and Orange City 9-inches of snow fell, 11.8-inches fell in Sanborn, with Hartley getting 8-inches of the heavy wet snow.

The good news, according to National Weather Service Meteoroologist Todd Heitkamp, is that the normal drop in temperatures behind such a snowstorm aren’t expected to happen this time.

In addition to the warming temperatures, Heitkamp says there’s no measurable precipitation in our forseeable future.

So once we finish digging out, we’re in for some more pleasant weather. We might even see snow-melt in some areas, as the temperatures warm up.
