High Fire Danger Again, Storms On The Way

Northwest Iowa — A few thunderstorms are possible later this afternoon in the evening, as a cold front moves across the area.

There is a chance that an isolated storm could produce hail to the size of quarters and/or wind gusts to around 65 mph. If you have outdoor plans this evening, keep an eye to the sky, and be prepared to seek shelter if storms threaten.

One more very warm day, with low humidity levels and gusty winds, will lead to Very High Fire Danger today. Use caution to avoid sparking a fire! Relief is in sight, as a cooler and wetter pattern moves in Tuesday through Thursday.
Another very warm and breezy day will lead one more day with elevated fire weather concerns. A cool front moves through tonight, bringing our first severe weather risk of the season to parts of the region. This will be followed by a stretch of cooler and wetter weather, as a slow moving storm system plods eastward through the region Tuesday through Thursday. Periods of rain and scattered storms could bring some very beneficial rainfall to the region, with amounts of 1 to 2 inches possible.
